ISOLDE BLAU MASTERCLASS – 26th September 2008 A number of issues were highlighted at the Master Class on the 26th September which were worked on during the workshop, as follows. These included: • Management of disclosure in group settings. * How to contain the survivor and work on the issues at the same time? * How to deal with feelings of disquiet about her ability to protect the children? • Working within in-patient settings. * How to manage and prioritise in this setting? • As a team • As a system • Working with abuse in private practice * How to work with individual without having access to the wider system? * How to manage the responsibility? • Management of retrospective disclosure. • Working with the individual who discloses abuse but is not ready to deal with the consequences of disclosure. • How to take care of self while working in abuse settings? * How to unburden self? • How to work with clients who are both victims and perpetrators? • How to work with clients who are abused but claim that the perpetrator is no longer a risk to children? • How to establish boundaries around extended responsibilities?
